In the interview "VALAB, 35 Years of Symbolic AI Serving Medical Biology," Dr. Eric Rogari, Director of VALAB, recounts the history and vision of the company, a pioneer in symbolic AI applied to medical biology.
Created at the Toulouse University Hospital in the 1980s, the Valab® solution was built around a clear objective: to automate medical validation while guaranteeing maximum safety.
Today, the Valab® solution analyzes approximately 800,000 medical reports per day worldwide.
Dr. Rogari also highlights the key role of Hervé Philippe in developing the first expert rule engines, as well as the gradual transformation of the university prototype into an industrial solution deployed in more than 12 countries.
Based on symbolic AI, Valab® stands out for its deterministic, explainable and compliant approach that meets the requirements of medical validation.
The company continues its development, particularly internationally, while remaining true to its independent model and vision: to secure medical validation through a reliable, transparent, and secure expert system.

Valab® Unveils Version 16 !
VALAB is happy to announce the release of version 16 of its expert system, an enhanced and more flexible version designed to remain your ally in your daily biological validation.
This new version incorporates numerous progress in biology, with the addition of "turnkey" analyses in several specialties (biochemistry, trace elements, blood gases, bacteriology), as well as new clinical and therapeutic information’s and improved expertise standards.
In terms of features, V16 facilitates data management thanks to the compatibility of test files (for ongoing assessment) and the CSV export of statistical data. The user interface has been redesigned to offer smoother navigation, with improvements in modules and windows.
Security remains a top priority, with the integration of an LDAP directory, enhanced GDPR compliance, and improved management of login attempts. Finally, this version introduces increased flexibility: Valab® can now be used to cover a broader range of activities, beyond routine medical biology.
In short, version 16 aims to offer an even more powerful, adaptable, and secure solution.
